Graduate Attachment @ TLL (GIT)

This is a program for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) who have recently graduated with a good honours degree in Life Sciences. GIT offers the participants a glimpse of research life before they embark on the TLL-PhD program.

This is a 6-month program between July to December. Each participant will be  provided with a monthly allowance.

REsearch Attachment Program Singapore (REAP SG)

REAP SG is jointly organised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and TLL. The program is specially designed for pre-university students specializing in Biology and Chemistry with the following objectives:

to stimulate the students' interest in life sciences

to encourage the students to choose a career in life sciences

to provide the students with hands-on training in state-of-the-art laboratories

to expose the students to the research environment to gain real-world lab experience

to groom local research talents

to create an opportunity for the students to meet and exchange ideas with top-notch scientists

The program is conducted in TLL once a year from November to December/January (5-6 weeks). It begins with an orientation for the students to learn basic theories and concepts, laboratory safety measures, and applications of sophisticated equipment. After the orientation, the participants are posted to different scientific groups to  conduct small research projects, under the guidance of their mentors and Principal Investigators in the laboratories.. Each student also has the opportunity to do either a poster or oral presentation on the project that they have been working on.

At the end of the program, a closing ceremony will be organised where TLL awards each student with a book prize and a certificate of participation, and celebrate the completion of the program and their achievements.

I am glad to be able to work in TLL. The staff here are all very loving and kind and took very good care of me! I had learned a lot from this internship programme as I was given plenty of opportunity to experience what I would be doing as an engineer in future.

My internship in TLL has provided me with invaluable exposure to the life science industry. I have developed many different skills set through hands-on experience in the laboratory and I was able to get a better understanding of what I have learnt in school. Overall, my time in TLL was a fulfilling one and it has been an eye-opening experience for me.

My biggest takeaway from my experience here at TLL has been getting accustomed to failing. Science is filled with failure that is meaningful; every failed experiment delivering insight that promises advancements, if only we stay our course and not let our motivation be shaken by the constant failure. I have learnt to fail repeatedly but never stop trying, because I have learnt to not let the sting of failure convince me that I will not succeed in the future.

TLL provided me with high-quality resources and mentorship to facilitate my learning process. I was trained to be a good scientist with a positive attitude and good laboratory skills.

It was an unforgettable experience in TLL. I had a chance to take up an independent project and got a taste of actual research life. The project I carried out expanded my knowledge in the field. And I learnt not only academic but also interpersonal skills here. People I met there were very nice, and they taught me a lot. TLL provides intern students to meet up with each other and other PIs. Thanks for that I met more friends here and made my trip more joyful. My internship in TLL is surely enjoyable. I am so thankful to have this opportunity.

My internship at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory was an engaging and eye-opening experience for me. The researchers I was working alongside were inspiring, knowledgeable, and helpful. The research project I partook in has offered me an opportunity to challenge myself and feel meaningful to the research group. I have learned new lab techniques that are essential for working in the future, whilst further developing my organisation, critical thinking and team building skills. This valuable learning experience has deepened my understanding of the research industry and I feel better prepared for my future research career.
