The challenge of providing enough nutritious food for 10 billion people is huge. Land and water are already scarce. The global population needs to be fed with even fewer primary resources used today, for present and future generations to come.

Recognising that biotechnological innovations are critical enablers in ensuring sustainable food production, TLL researchers are catalysing agriculture research discoveries, pioneering technology adoption to solve complex issues in food security.

Since its inception, TLL research groups are discovering forward-looking methodologies that produce food in a climate-resilient and resource-efficient manner.

With limited inputs like land, water, and food in mind, TLL explores breeding strategies such as genome editing to improve leafy vegetables, generating novel crop varieties with high quality traits tailored for urban controlled environments, and formulating aquaculture feeds that enhance the growth rates and health of popular food fish species.
